She possesses particular expertise in structuring development projects and the acquisition of commercial properties. She has considerable experience with cases involving expropriation and valuation, especially in connection with the construction of roads, railways, power plants, and shooting ranges.

Furthermore, she works with matters related to zoning, subdivision, property boundaries, and rights to real estate, including easements and ground leases. Thorud regularly acts as an adviser to the mineral industry, including in investigations and extraction of minerals owned by both landowners and the state, as well as drafting agreements with landowners. She also handles matters involving allodial and preferential rights, concession, the Land Act, and registration of title.

Thorud regularly litigates cases before the courts, including cases before the land consolidation court. She has also undertaken several advisory and litigation assignments related to energy and watercourse law, primarily concerning the mapping of water rights.
