Kjersti Schiøtz Thorud has long and extensive experience as a lawyer and advisor to businesses, state and municipalities as well as private individuals within her main practice area - real estate.

She particularly works with regulation, partition of land proceedings, sectioning, property boundaries and rights related to real property, such as easements and leaseholds. She further works with structuring in relation to development and implementation of development projects and purchase of business properties. She regularly acts as advisor for the minerals industry, including in matters of investigations and exploitation of both the property owner's and the state's minerals, as well as drafting of agreements with property owners. She also works with assignments involving allodial and homestead rights, concessions, the Land Act, business leases and registration of land rights and encumbrances.

She also has significant experience from cases involving expropriation and appraisement disputes, especially in connection with the construction of roads, railways and artillery ranges.

Thorud regularly litigates cases before the courts, including cases before the Land Consolidation Court. She has also acted as advisor and litigator related to energy and water law in a number of cases, primarily in connection with mapping of waterfall rights, construction of small power stations and exploitation of residual water flow in developed water sources.

Before joining Tenden, Thorud previously worked in the real estate department of the law firm Haavind in Oslo.
